BREEDING TO STANDARD

The last 30+ years of Índio Gigante development are an incredible visual example of what happens when breeders select with purpose and breed toward a consistent standard.

Generation after generation, breeders selected for greater height, length, upright station, stronger structure, better proportions, and a more recognizable breed phenotype. The result is the modern Índio Gigante we see today.

A Standard of Perfection isn't there to limit breeders, it gives everyone a shared direction. When breeders consistently select toward the same ideal, quality and uniformity improve generation after generation.

Breed to standard. Select with purpose. Improve every generation.

Thirty years of progress speaks for itself.

Important clarification: There has never been one single phenotype representing every bird from a particular decade. Considerable variation existed within every generation and bloodline. This chart is simply a baseline visual reference showing the general progression of phenotype through selective breeding over time.
